Mutants in Nature

Took Jenny, Genie, One Man Wolfgang and What To Expect When You're Resurrecting with me on a hike today to see if I can get some better display pics.  What do you think?

What To Expect When You're Resurrecting

The resurrected infant needs extra care and attention.  You must remember that it's jaw muscles and teeth (if they've come in yet) are not strong enough to chew through tough bone or muscle.  Start it on a diet of glutimus maximus or belly fat.  Breastfeeding is an excellent choice to provide nutrients to your zombie child. When he or she gets a little older you can spoil them with a bit of the brains too, as a reward for good behavior of course!

I had the hardest time turning that pot into a baby.  Proportion can be difficult when your pieces are so small and you're trying to work around an pre-existing part of the original sculpture.  I had the same problem with Boppo The Clown and Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Bombers.  I know, there's a boob in the picture.  I told myself when I started that while my pieces would be gruesome I would stay away from being crass...but it's a non-sexual boob and it helps with the joke of how to breastfeed a zombie baby so I'm making an exception this time.

I'm donating this piece to a contest http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360660954028191&set=a.246880348739586.57530.246879415406346&type=1&theater both as my submission to win an original painting by David Irvine of gnarledbranch.com but also that he can give it away as a consolation prize.  To enter for the contest yourself all you have to do is 'like' the monsteraday facebook page which you will do anyway once you see how awesome it is...and submit to David an original piece of Hallowe'en inspired craft/artwork etc. you've done yourself.  Deadline is October 31st at 10pm so get working! and good luck!

Again I apologize for the duration between pieces...it feels like we've been so very busy, and yet I couldn't really tell you what I've done!  I'd like to tell you the next one will be quicker but I'd likely be wrong.  I'm glad I got this out before Hallowe'en though.

Hope you have a safe and happy Hallowe'en, haunt responsibly.

Genie

Damn.  I know her.  They don't prepare you for this in all the zombie guides and movies.  They talk about when your family gets sick, or your spouse.  Sure it sucks having to put a bullet in your best friends head but then you feel like you've set them free, free from this world of pain and suffering.  What's really wearing me down is the constant stream of everyday people I took for granted reminding me one kill at a time that my life is never going to go back to the routine I had grown so accustomed to.  The guy who pumps your gas, the librarian, the guy who walked his weiner dog past my house every day.
Take her for example.  She worked at the bakery around the corner with her husband for years.  When I was a kid she would yell at me for taking too many free samples and yet there was always an extra cookie or sweet in the bag when me and mom got back home.
They were European I think, I can still hear her husbands accent.  He called her 'Genie', must've been short for Eugina or something.  My friend used to say that if he ever rubbed a bottle and she came out, his first wish would be for her to get back into the bottle...he was an ass.
Someone's taken a few shots at her, terrible aim though.  Hope they got away.  I won't miss.  I've been through this enough times to know it's me or her.  Rest in peace Genie.

This piece has driven me to the brink.  I restarted the paint colours 3 times because I couldn't quite get it to match the way I wanted it to.  This is why it's been what...six weeks since my last mutation?  Alas she is done.  However, when I went to spray her with the varnish it reacted terribly with the paint.  We were not amused...as I wandered the house wondering which wall would be best to smash my head against (not in a yelling angry guy sort of way just mad in my head) my daughter came up and gave me this:
Thanks universe.  Went back and saw that the effect of the varnish actually enhanced the piece.  Now I don't mind it as much.

Hope you guys dig it too.

Peace.
