I was reading a book about the history of LSD many years ago and read about entire villages going insane because their rye crop had been infested with a fungus called ergot. The one village baker would bake the town's bread using this tainted rye and the whole crown would go on a crazy acid trip.
The human reaction to the fungus ranges including burning of the limbs, confusion, delusion and hallucinations.
Recently some historians have been suggesting that the Salem witch trials started as a result of an ergot infestation.
I've always wanted to write a story/book based on these ideas. Instead I've created a mutation in honour of the ergot fungus...
I know I broke my own rule by breaking the arm off...but it was just SOOOO tempting.
Enjoy kiddies.

pictures and comments concerning my latest art endeavour. Taking common everyday figurines and mutating them. In most cases I attempt to minimize how much of the sculpture I alter. The paint jobs are redone with more attention to detail. Hope you enjoy!

Life Lesson
There's Always A Miss February
Love the moment you're in, take pride in your accomplishments but remember to prepare yourself because there's always going to be someone who's going to take your place.
When I picked this one up the first thing that struck me was the fact that the original sculptor embedded the flower into this poor childs head. It wasn't hard to figure out what I was going to do with this piece. It's a smaller piece (roughly Boppo size) so building a tiny handgun was tough. The barrel is made from a small piece of toothpic if that gives you any indication.
It came all together relatively quickly though, like Pre-Emptive Strike it required very little mutating to make it work. As a result all you lucky mutanteers get two pieces in one weekend!
Now, I have a question for you all...now that I'm getting more and more pieces I'm looking to spread the word on Precious Mutations. Any advice as to sites I could post my work on...or fb pages I should join...or any other suggestions as to how to get word out I would be greatful to hear.
Also I would like to start making shirts based on my mutations. Anyone good with photoshop? or know a good place to get prints done?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

At Long Last!
Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Bombers
I thought I had much better before pictures of this one, but apparantly I had a brain fart. She was originally sitting on a very large baby bottle. The process of mutating that into a bomb was an difficult one and very time consuming as I needed to wait for clay and glue to dry. I'm still not crazy about how the bomb turned out but I'm still fairly happy overall with the piece.
Thanks again for being so very very patient and I will do my best to keep the time between pieces much shorter in the future.
Precious Mutations also now has a facebook page of it's own, please come by and gimme a 'like' and then you will be notified of all that's being mutated.

Greetings Mutanteers
Happy 1000 views! I was hoping that a new piece would have inspired more visitors to break the 1000 mark but my carpentry teacher has had me at my wits end (...two more days...two more days...two more days).
It is KILLING me to have to sit and do homework while pieces sit half finished mere feet away. Plus my agitated state has my mind running in circles and my patience at an all time low. Even when I get a few minutes to mutate I rush and make stupid mistakes or create something I'm completely unsatisfied with. I basically had to remove a bunch of glue and clay and start one piece all over again. The other half finished one I'm still not sure what I'm doing with it yet.
I'm making a promise to you all that I WILL have a piece done this weekend.
Thanks again for all your patience and to each and everyone of you that contributed to the 1000 views my blog has received in slightly under one month.

PM Plunders Midland & Penetang!
A lovely trip up to my mothers place allowed me to clear my mutating mind and plunder a number of new (to me) thrift shops. Along the way I came across the first garage sale of the year and managed to scoop up two more pieces. When I asked how much he told me a buck each. I told him I'd give him $2 for the pair and not a penny more. He stared at me blankly. I've been getting that alot lately....
When we got back to my mothers there was a 'cotents sale' ad in the local paper so we made a trip out the following morning and came home with the last two pieces shown here. He seems to be some sort of half man, half grasshopper creature. I'm going to have to think long and hard before mutating this one! The woman who sold these to me tried to convince me that despite the fact they are only stamped with 'Japan' on the bottom does not mean they're not worth anything....really? Look at them, do they look like high end pieces to you?
As an update on pieces in the works...I'm finally going to get some time to work on them this weekend, but one I have to start over I think so they may still be a few days away.
Precious Mutations now has it's own facebook page as well, please come by and 'like' the page to get instant updates whenever I upload a new piece...now you can get all your Precious Mutations needs without having to explain why you're friends with me!
Back to the old electronic priming board...

I appreciate your patience...
Sorry guys, it was crazy at school this week. Major project due, mega-test yesterday and an extensive drawing due today means there's been little time for mutating. Trust me...there's noone more dissapointed about that than me. There's two pieces in the works right now, one ready to start painting the other needs a coat of primer. I'm heading north to clear my head for a few days and barring any major homework today I will be back hard at work come Saturday. I hope to have both pieces done by the end of this weekend....one for sure.
Thanks for your patience
